What is Autism?
Autism is a developmental disorder that can affect communication, behavior, and social skills. It has been on the rise in recent years and currently affects about 1 in every 68 children, according to estimates from the Center of Disease Control and Prevention.

Potential Causes
It is important to know, that every child is different and that what may have caused the disorder for one individual may be completely different for another. Some potential causes of autism include but are not limited to:
– toxicity in the body
– inflammation
– digestive issues (ex. leaky gut)
– nutritional deficiencies
– food sensitivities

Foods to Eat vs. Foods to Avoid
Children with autism can add or increase the following foods to their diet…
– Bone Broth (especially homemade)- can improve leaky gut, rich in minerals & amino acids
– Poultry (turkey, chicken, duck, pheasant, etc.)- contains high amounts of tryptophan, which in turn, helps the body produce serotonin
– Probiotic-Rich Foods (goat milk kefir, yogurt, kimchi, sauerkraut, etc.)- can improve leaky gut by adding in good bacteria
– Omega 3 Foods (fish)- excellent for brain health, should consume at least two servings per week

Children with autism can eliminate the following…
– Gluten
– Cow Dairy
– Sugar
– Additives
– Processed Foods
– Food Coloring & Dyes
